#TradSongTues 5th February - Family Songs
This is a series of posts about the #TradSongTues project, run by various people at the University of Sheffield. Every week I've been recording a song for the theme, sharing it and talking about it. Come and play on Twitter!
At this time of year we all need to huddle together, so the theme for the coming week is #FamilySongs.

Family is very important to me. I get on very well with my parents and siblings, and I'm lucky enough to have an extended family that's supportive and friendly. So obviously, I sung a horrific murder ballad this week.
I got this from Paul Slade. He posted on the Mudcat Cafe1 asking if people wanted to put some of them to music. I was looking for some new material and so I did.
I don't understand how I forgot that I'd written this - I'm a big fan of it. It's nice and pacy and has a horrific story. What's not to like?

The Mudcat Cafe is an online forum for folkies. I'm not a big fan of the place - the site is slow as sin, and the people who spend their time there are...interesting creatures to say the least. ↩︎
